The CERN Knowledge Transfer (KT) fund and the Medical Applications (MA) budget are CERN’s two funding schemes aiming to support projects developed by CERN personnel and based on CERN technologies with high potential for a positive impact on society. Since 2011, over 100 projects have been funded, spanning technological fields and applications from healthcare to aerospace. So far, projects supported by the KT fund and the MA budget have received funding ranging from 15 to 904 kCHF.
In order to be considered, a project should be based on CERN technologies and approved by the department head. In addition, the department should agree to cover the salaries of the staff members involved.
If the technology you are developing can be applied to the medical or biomedical sector, please apply for funding from the MA budget and present your proposal – even if it’s not yet finalised – at the upcoming Medical Applications Project Forum meeting on 3 August. Please contact kt.medicalapplications@cern.ch by 26 July to book your slot.
If you are targeting other applications, please apply to the KT fund by following the instructions detailed here.
Full applications should be submitted by8 August 2022. All applicants will then present their proposals to the Selection Committee on 22 September 2022. Don’t hesitate to contact us directly at kt@cern.ch.
