Four new members elected to the Senior Staff Advisory Board (“The Nine”) in 2022

The electronic voting process for the Senior Staff Advisory Committee (known as “the Nine”) closed at midnight on Friday, 26 August 2022.

The Senior Staff Advisory Committee was created in 1981 to serve as a channel of communication between the senior staff and the Director-General. It is made up of nine members elected by the senior staff for a period of three years. The Nine share the ideas and experiences of the senior staff with the Director-General and offer advice on questions concerning scientific activities, organisational matters and use of resources. Elections for the Nine are held every year, ensuring an annual rotation of members.

Of the 584 senior staff members eligible to vote, 324 voted. One candidate stood for election for Electoral Group 1 (Research Physicists and Applied Physicists in EP or TH), five candidates for Electoral Group 2 (Other members of EP and TH, members of IT, RCS, SCE, HSE and the AT sector) and three for Electoral Group 3 (Members of DG, FAP, HR, IPT, IR and PF).

Niko Neufeld, Marzia Bernardini, Markus Brugger and Cécile Curdy were elected, replacing the outgoing Nine members Marine Gourber-Pace, Pascal Goy, Luca Malgeri and myself. Eric Montesinos will be the new spokesperson for one year. The Nine will now consist of these newly elected members together with [end of mandate in brackets]:

Stefan Lueders [2023]
Eric Montesinos [2023]
Dave Barney [2024]
Christophe Delamare [2024]
Christoph Rembser [2024]

I wish to congratulate the newly elected members and warmly thank all the other candidates for having stood for election.

Special thank go to our polling officer, Alberto Pace.

Tony Cass, outgoing spokesperson of the Nine
