Delaying turning on the heating in buildings was one of the outstanding measures of the Energy Savings campaign launched in 2022.
Indeed, among the Energy savings measures validated last year by the CERN management, the heating switch on is not any more defined according to a regular calendar but to the weather forecast, and more especially on the overnight temperature.
To respect CERN's commitments to saving energy and reducing CO2 emissions, the heating system should be started as late as possible. SCE department is therefore closely monitoring the forecast to identify the significant temperatures downwards and define the most appropriate date for the heating system to be switched on.
As temperatures are set to gradually drop from mid-October, they thank everyone for their understanding and supportive effort to stand the few cool days next week.
